Each gooseberry is individually wrapped in a muted green “shell” that is covered with an intricate network of tiny, prominent veins. By contrast the berries themselves are smooth, circular, orange and highly reflective.
I bought a box knowing that they would make wonderful subjects to photograph. I wanted to ensure that the image featured the veiny, organic texture of the leaf while still revealing the shiny “pearl” within. This image, I think, does the job.
