One a longer weekend trip with the family, we decided to head to Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, the weather was much colder than usual, and the winds were much gustier than normal. This made this picture difficult to get. The day we arrived, I scoped out the spot. The sun was setting in front of the camera and the winds were quite strong. The water was really choppy and there were white caps out in the middle of the lake!
The day we decided to leave to make our way back home, we decided to give Sand Harbor one more try. The winds were much more calm and the lake wasn't choppy at all.
I got down to business. I used a circular polarizer and a B+W 10 stop ND filter (the black disc) to get the shutter speed beyond 30sec to smooth the water out. I wish the water was more still because then it would be more like glass. I guess the door is open to another road trip! Enjoy!
