I am going to end my ‘4 for the 4th’ series with another American icon. An adopted son of Philadelphia that came to fame with America's Bicentennial Independence Day celebration on July, 4, 1976 – in the movie at least.

On September 8, 2006, after years of wrangling with museum officials, the Rocky statue, by A. Thomas Schomberg, came to a proper (in my opinion) home next to the famous Rocky steps, also known as the front entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art – a world class art museum.

Is the song playing in your head now? Do you hear the repeated chants - Rocky, Rocky, Rocky? I bet many of you do.

Apologies for all the clipped highlights on the statue. It was just me and my point and shoot that day, pre-HDR & RAW.
