Imagine my surprise as I was walking along the path to the shade of the plant covered trellis where the rest area is at my favorite spot at the Norfolk Botanical Garden--and found two snakes hanging down from the roof, wrapped around each other! I swore, and in shock took a few steps back. When I recovered my senses, seeing as these were non-venomous snakes, I stepped round the corner to change lenses (of course I had my macro lens on at the time!), to be out of the snakes sight so I wouldn't frighten them away. Having changed lenses I went back around the corner...and they were gone--I swore a second time! Then I thought, just wait and see, be patient. So I stood looking up at the roof, hopeful they would return--and they did! This is a shot of the snakes, mating I believe, on the roof. Patience paid off.
