A waning gibbous moon rises on the eastern horizon, watched over by the central bulge of the Milky Way. In the top right of frame is the Southern Cross (Crux) Constellation. Just next to that is the dark coal sack nebula. To the dreamtime beliefs of the Australian Aboriginals, the coal sack nebula is the head of their Emu Constellation. The neck and body of the Emu is made up of the dark dust lanes extending towards the central bulge of our gallaxy. You should also be able to spot a bright meteor strike in this field of view.
