Sometimes it is great to be at the right place at the right time.

When I took this shot there was a whole discussion going on in Belgium about an 18 year old Afghan refugee that had been sent back to his country. He had fled Afghanistan when he was a minor because his father was murdered there. And now that he had become an adult the government decided to send him back to Kabul, because they said Kabul was no longer a dangerous place to live…imagine that.

When I saw this guy sitting with those papers in his hand, at a road block with the “OUT” graffiti on it, I couldn’t resist shooting him.

This shot is dedicated to all those refugees looking for our mercy, and finding nothing but our cold-hearted “No”, because we are so afraid of losing our privileged way of living.
