I darted across the highway overpass to a great little pier biting out into the Swan River here in Perth, hoping to catch the sunset. The light was amazing, with a dense group of rays breaking through the cloud. Perfect. I threw my bags down, changed lenses, got the filters out, cleaned and attached them, put everyone on the tripod, looked up and BAM. The light was gone.

I haven't been properly shooting in a while and took far too long. Missing the opportunity with the now dense cloud blocking the last rays from the sunset, I tried for some long exposure shots of the churning water as it grew more angry with quite a large storm approaching.

I really like the mesh on the pylon in this shot, and the slight hint of texture in the water after the long exposure smoothed it out. I may have failed to get the sunset, but at least I didn't walk away empty handed.
