After a couple days shooting in the incomparable valley with Ellie Stone and Jean Day, Matt and I chose Valley View as our last stop and our last ditch effort to catch sunset before heading back to the Bay. We were there for a while, waiting for the light when just as the numerous crisscrossing stubborn vapor trails had just finally vaporized, Matt was sure the light was gone. I looked up and noticed the sun was just starting to reveal some thin clouds not visible earlier. It didn't take much effort to convince Matt to stay a while longer and after a few more minutes, we got lucky as those thin clouds pinked up, with the valley floor and granite ramparts reflecting the fading pre-dusk blue-magenta hues. We had to act fast or we'd lose the light and color. As the bloated Merced rushed by, I managed to grab a few exposures. At first I thought I would work with a 5 exposure HDR, but I realized after downloading I had a single exposure that had everything I think I needed.
