Name: Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris)
Location: West Nowra, NSW (16/05/2012)
The Eastern Spinebill is a honeyeater and feeds on nectar and insects. The bird has a distinctive wing beat which you can hear as it flys around hawking for insects. It very rarely ever stays still and darts around like it has ADHD. Lucky for us they are very common and make good subjects when they sit still for long enough. I managed to snap this one as it landed on this perch.
