I am the type that doesn’t go anywhere without a camera. Often I squint and close one of my eyes — it helps me see what the scene would look like as a photograph, I think. It gets worse when I forget said camera at home. In general I have taken more photos than I like to sift through, yet it still feels like only the beginning.
My background is in graphic design and illustration. I do that on a day-to-day basis yet photography always seems to take precedent when I am asked about what I do. I am compulsively compulsive about everything and photography, being such a rapid medium, helps me break away from that cycle. I still apply my graphic design and illustration skill to every image that I capture.
Born in Estonia to Russian parents I got my university degree in Fine Art in Minnesota, USA. Since then I have lived and worked in Chicago, London and most recently Brighton. My photos have been published by Brighton Source, The Argus, Hound Magazine, Cambridgeshire Agenda and many more places online than I can keep track of.
Latest ongoing project is Brighton Folk. Also I have been taking pictures and filming live music sessions with Galapagos Presents which has opened doors to a number of world-known musicians.
