Writer, Starving Artist, Dreamer, Traveler, Student of Life
I would first like to thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Alexandria McCulloch, I am originally from the U.S., but I am currently studying International Relations ain Prague, Czech Republic. I enjoy shooting in my free time.
People say I am a photographer. Really? What does that mean? What stands behind that label? I ask myself, what is it that compels me to take pictures?
I realized it’s because life is full of precious fleeting moments, and once they come, they are gone and only a memory remains. No matter how much you try to explain it to someone, they can never experience it with you. It all becomes so surreal. I know I lived it, I know I had it in that moment, but it’s gone, and I can barely feel it. I am enamored with life, and art that seeks to simplify, distort, reflect, magnify, and project self-perception of a concept, moment or feeling that can evoke something in someone. Life is not black and white, and the older I get, I realize life has many shades of grey and colors in between.
So here is my answer, I want to capture these moments, and re-live them through an image, a reminder just as strong as a location, song or a smell that takes you back to that time. Sometimes I fear that if I don’t capture it, the moment will die, and it’s so beautiful that I want to share it with others. Maybe it’s a passion or some say it’s an obsession, but it’s my way of interpreting the world, making sense of all these colors and feelings, and sharing it with others so they too can have a piece of that moment… making it last forever.
