21st Century Polymath:
If more people set out to fulfill their childhood dreams, we'd all be a lot more excited about life. Either that or there'd be an excess of firemen and astronauts.
Pogoda is living out her childhood on a grand scale. As an only child of two creative parents, a writer and builder, she developed a vivid imagination, and ability to entertain herself from early on. A typical day consisted of painting along with Bob Ross, hosting her own personal radio show via cassette recorder, helping dad lay down some flooring, and throwing a costume party with 100 invited stuffed animal guests. It's no surprise that today Pogoda is a live visual artist, designs costumes and stages for events, builds props, hosts several internet radio shows, and loves to entertain and be surrounded by a community that she calls family.
VJ-ing (or live video mixing) is an artistic role that Pogoda discovered when she entered the electronic music scene. Modern day dance music events around the world are never complete without a visual element, and she found that this is a way to entertain alongside some of the performers and DJs she most admires and feels connected to. There are many methods, skills, and tools that each VJ employs in their own performance, and Pogoda's style currently consists of a lot of live footage elements, geometric animations, and movie clips that are altered and transformed with her laptop, midi controller, and live cam. She has a unique and gradual blending process, and finds a way to express what she sees in her mind when listening to music.
In addition to VJ-ing, Pogoda adds other elements to each show, such as costumes, dance, and interactive installations. As with any artist, her skills and inspiration are constantly evolving.
