Born in Minsk, Belarus, Polina Rabtseva, is a director/photographer based in Los Angeles & New York.
Raised by an architect and engineer, she was exposed to both creative and technical thinking from an early age. An environment that fostered her interest in visual storytelling, and led to experimentation with photography and video.
Initially trained as a painter, her youthful eye was drawn to the soft female forms and fantasy settings of Botticelli, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Later, as a photographer, she found inspiration in the raw, highly sophisticated, photographic style of Helmut Newton.
Decidedly singular in her approach, Polly is foremost a modern digital filmmaker. Effortlessly embracing all aspects of her craft, she is equally proficient with lighting, camera, editing, sound design and animation. This application of her personal touch at every stage of the process ensures each film is not only imbued with unique visual style but is distinctively hers. She describes her work as an attempt to distill the purest essence of human emotion through the process of sculpting sound and images in time.
A relative newcomer to commercial filmmaking, her work has been sought and commissioned by notable brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Bacardi, and FashionTV. She is a featured contributor at dissolve.com.
