My daughter and her friend found this nest, they thought it was empty and took the nest out from under our deck and were surprised to find a newly hatched baby bird and one still inside its egg. I wasn't sure if I put the nest back the mother would come back and the babies would be raised as they should be by the mother bird. I called our local animal rehabilitation center and they recommended that we bring in the baby bird so it could have the best chance of survival. But first I had to get a few shots of this baby bird only about a day or so old. The little thing just wrapped it's tiny arms around the egg in the nest, in a sweet tender embrace with it's would be sibling. I knew they would not grow up together, which makes this image all the sweeter, knowing they would soon be separated. Even if the robins don't share a strong sibling connection it certainly reminds me of the human connection we do share with our family and those we love.
