Rad Deverala is a Japan-based Filipino graphic designer and freelance photographer. His graphic design efforts spread from Davao City to Metro Manila, Saudi Arabia and Japan for over 15 years. His photographic efforts focus on traveling around Japan photographing its culture and castles. Rad has won the Shizuoka UNESCO award in 2009 and an honorable mention in 2010 photography division at the annual Shizuoka City Culture & Arts Festival. He was also one of the contributors in the Bayanihan 2010 photo exhibit held in Kawazaki City showcasing images of Japan and the Philippines. His published works can be seen at Rear Curtain (rearcurtain.ca) a place for emerging visual storytellers to share their stories. "DiTL (Day in The Life): Vacation" is a collaboration of what goes on in a day of the lives of 6 photographers. "The Hands That Rock the Grave" is a story of his encounter with 3 enterprising boys during his visit to his father's last resting place. He maintains a blog (bushidocalling.blogspot.com) where he shares images and writes about his photographic journey. Rad completed his study in photojournalism at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University. He plans to work in the future with a global team who advocates intervention and expose injustices facing children in-crisis.
