A photograph captures the moment, however fleeting it may be. The difficulty is being able to describe the soul of this moment so as to tell the story behind it. The angle of view, the point of focus, the composition, the framing and the timing all play a part in expressing this moment.
Aperture, exposure time and ISO speed are some of the variables that affect exposure and in a digital camera, an array of millions of tiny light cavities record this image as pixels of information with hue, tint, shade, saturation, light intensity, color and tone.
In the words of Henri Cartier-Bresson, “There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”
