The meaning of Hong Kong is “Fragrant Harbour”. ....You ask Fragrant what.. I Say....Money is definitely something you can smell everywhere in Hong Kong.....

Hong Kong has been a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) since 1st July 1997. Under the Sino-British Joint Declaration between the governments of the United Kingdom and the PRC which transferred sovereignty to the PRC, Hong Kong enjoys a high degree of autonomy under Basic Law for a period of 50 years other than in areas of defence and foreign affairs. Hong Kong is a modern, vibrant and cosmopolitan city and one of the most important international finance and business centres in the world, being a “gateway” between Mainland China and the rest of the world.

The meaning of Hong Kong is “Fragrant Harbour”. ....What the harbour is now smelling of - you have to be there to experience it - money is definitive something you can smell everywhere in Hong Kong

Past of North Point : When the Communist Party took control of China in 1949, few Shanghai businesses had moved directly to North Point in HK.

In 1950, North Point became known as "Little Shanghai", since in the minds of many, it has already become the replacement for the surrendered Shanghai in China.[1] The first wave of emigrants introduced Shanghai-style restaurants, beauty parlours and barbershops. They also learned Cantonese and intermarried with people of other dialect groups. By the 1950s, North Point was the premiere place of residence for these emigrants, leading to a massive population boom; by 1962, North Point was listed as the most densely populated place on earth by the Guinness Book of Records

Tin Hau station was part of the original plan for the MTR, dating back to the Hong Kong Mass Transport Study in 1967.[2] It was not, however, in the Modified Initial System, which laid out the first few phases of the MTR system. Construction on the Island Line began in 1981, with the first section of the line, which included Tin Hau, opening on 31 May 1985. From 2000, MTR retrofitted platform screen doors at thirty underground stations, one of them being Tin Hau; the project was finished in 2006.

Fortress Hill (Chinese: 炮台山, literally Mount Battery) is a station on the Island Line of the Hong Kong MTR system. The station is located in the Fortress Hill section of Hong Kong on the eponymous island. Like all MTR stations, Fortress Hill has a unique colour scheme; its livery is dark green. The distance between this station and Tin Hau to the west is approximately 480 metres, the second-closest stations after Mong Kok and Prince Edward.

Electric Road remained unnamed when the Hong Kong Tramway was completed in 1904. In 1913, Hongkong Electric built a new power plant on the new reclamation of North Point to replace the one in Wan Chai. Its operation was delayed until summer 1919 because of World War I. The operation of the power plant spurred the development of North Point. In 1929 after the improvement of the road, it was named 'Electric Road' after the power plant. Before the completion of King's Road, it was the busiest road in North Point.

cattered throughout the city are many street food vendors both on the Hong Kong and Kowloon side. Fast, delicious and cheap, there are plenty of options to sample a different one each time until you find one that you like best. You will quickly understand why Hong Kong is considered so highly commended when it comes to cuisine–whether on white plates or in a paper bag.

By definition, 'SECOND HAND' means transferring the title of ownership from one to another, which does NOT mean USED. Therefore, you can find most of the products are rarely used in the shop or even the origina1 packing of the goods are still there! However, the selling price is cheap...

Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Taikoo Shing, Whampoa Garden are some places that are popular housing estates. City One Shatin are early notable examples. The idea became widely accepted as the middle class of Hong Kong emerged. More projects follow and now is a major form for developing private housing. The all look like this - stacked up vertical flats and they are very expensive.

When it comes to food, Hong Kongers value freshness, so it should be no surprise that many neighborhoods have an outdoor market, known as wet markets, where the produce, meat and seafood — usually from mainland China or the New Territories in Hong Kong — is often of better quality and cheaper than what is sold in the supermarkets.

A private housing estate (Chinese: 私人屋苑) is a term in Hong Kong that refers to a housing estate developed by a private developer, as opposed to a public housing estate built by the Hong Kong Housing Authority or the Hong Kong Housing Society. It usually is characterised with a cluster of high-rise buildings, with its own market or shopping mall. Mei Foo Sun Chuen, built by Mobil, is the earliest (1965) and largest (99 blocks) example of its kind.
Early real estate development in Hong Kong follows urban street pattern. Single blocks of building are packed along streets and most of them are managed independently. The quality varies from block to block.

The term "adequately housed" refers to persons living in squatter areas on government land, in temporary housing, in cottage areas, in self contained flats, in rooftop structures, or in shared accommodation in the private sector. The government's policy is to build 50,000 flats a year in the public sector and to form land and the necessary infrastructure to meet the long term demand of about 35,000 private flats a year.
