Ramesh Ramakrishnan...

Ramesh is passionate about creating photographic images. His subjects are streetraits, arts, festivals, culture and moments with memories. He prefers a narrative style - editorial and documentary stories. He loves to travel to off-beat places, talk to strangers and shoot portraits. He has won several prizes and competitions and considers himself photo lucky. Many of his projects are pro-bono; he helps the needy individuals or organisations, NGOs and the like who could do with some pictures. He believes that the photographer's INNER EYE that matters MOST - and the picture should evoke a story in the mind. He is a professional who does many "Helping with photography" projects for NGO's and the those people who need them - weddings, portraits, new businesses and those in need.. For him a good time is "making bokeh" at dawn or dusk and he truly believes that a it is not the camera, it is not the lens, it is not even the subject or object - it is the INNER EYE. He loves Bali, Japan, India, Java, Sumatra, Srilanka, China, Buddha, Yoga and Swimming. The likely cause for his photo insomnia is Coffee with Cognac, Cameras and Cigarettes with Cloves. He likes Quantum Buddhism ideas and believes deeply in Karmic Logic - what goes around come around. He likes Albert Einstein - who said among other things - "Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they will not." He still shoots film with his trusted CONTAX and Canon FD and Pentax film cameras.

Published November 22nd, 2012

Adriana is a good friend of mine. she is from Venezuela. she loves things Indian and is a desi girl in her previous birth, I think. I took these photos to help Padma, another friend who runs a jewellery business. I used these pictures in FB and other social media and helped market the jewels. Padma tells me that her business improved many times and she gets requests and orders from round the world. Now many girls want to do Bollywood make-up, dancing and dress up as Indian brides. Even my business is up, many people have asked me for makeover and transformation photography and they are neither Venezuelan or Indian.

Anyone who has shot outdoors in equatorial Singapore will know - it is impossible to get peaceful and cool and get those shots that spike in that look - you can feel the heat and the tension and the moods and many other problems arise, including mosquitoes and melting make up; very easy to say I will Photoshop it and adjust but I hate that. Somehow other than basic adjustments like contrast and cropping and overall white balance I hate the deep touch ups.
