Initially, my goal was just to "capture" the subject at hand, but with time I began to be more and more interested in the artistic and creative side of photography. After many years I learned how to improve the composition through proper lighting and the aesthetics to create pleasing and unique images. I am completely self-taught and still learning all the time.
As a professional photographer, I take great pride in my artistry; one of my primary rolls is always going above and beyond what my client might expect.
I started to share my knowledge of photography a few years back by offering hands on classes in my studio. I feel that a teacher's role is to guide, providing access to information rather than acting as the primary source of information, the students' search for knowledge is met as they learn to find answers to their questions with hands on instruction.
For students to construct knowledge, they need the opportunity to discover for themselves and practice skills needed in authentic situations. Providing students access to hands-on activities and allowing adequate time and space to use equipment and materials that reinforce the lesson being studied creates an opportunity for individual discovery and a better understanding of photography in general.
For me, teaching photography provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an instructor / educator is to instill the passion of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for photography with them.
I photograph exclusively with Canon Digital SLR 21.1 mega pixel pro camera bodies and Canon glass. I started to get deeper into Close-Up Macro Photography about 9 years ago; this is truly the artistic side of photography!
Computer Aided Graphic Design and Web Development are also passions of mine.
I'm a long time member of the International Webmasters Association and the HTML Writers Guild. I am also a standing member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). I hold the Adobe achievement certification of ACE (Adobe Certified Expert - CS). You might say that I'm a Photoshop Junky; I just can't get enough! I've been using Adobe Software since 1992 starting with version 2.5 and not a day goes by without working with it.
