Robert Strickland

I am a self-Taught Photographer. I have been in this business for over 30 years. My specialty is nature and wildlife. All of my photos are the result of many patient hours spent in the field, exploring, absorbing, seeing and figuring out the world around me to be able to get an outstanding image. On most outings everything comes together, the shutter speed, the exposure, The Focus and composition to bring home impressive images, on other hand there are times when nothing seems to work, you missed the focus or a bad exposure. However, I enjoy every minute of the outdoors whether it’s in the wilderness or a city park, regardless of my photographic success. This is an exciting time in photography, and I fully embrace the power of the Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 11, to turn a raw photo into a works of art that have the striking impact of a masterpiece, but with the detail, authenticity, and direct connection to natural world that comes with Nature photography. It is very important to me that my images represent a factual representation of the subjects that I am seeking.

Currently, my equipment of choice is Canon digital SLR’s and a wide array of Canon lenses. I use the 6D, 7D MKII, and use the 150-600 Tamron lenses for bird and other wildlife photography. I have the MEFOTO Global tracker tripod and the Bogen (Manfrotto) 3221 Tripod and other equipment.

My publishing credits include: National Geographic Daily Dozen, NANPA News, Nature Photographers Magazine, North American Bluebird Society, Ducks Unlimited, Finger Lakes Magazine, American Agriculturist, Bird Watching Magazine, National wildlife, Waterway Guide Northern Edition, Mariner’s Handbook, Turkey Call Magazine, Photographer’s Forum Magazine, Agway Cooperator; Discover Lifestyle Magazine, Central Ridge Visitor, NWF’s Treasures of Wildlife Calendar, 1st place in the National Wildlife Federation amateur division for backyard habitat, 2009 Great Backyard Bird Count Photo Contest.

I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and belonged to the “The Professional Photographers Society of New York State, Inc., and Member of NANPA.
