I started taking photos when I was nine years old. I used a 126 instamatic camera and had a wonderful time snapping photos, sending the roll away for development, and then being surprised by what came back in the mail. The photos were terrible, but I loved taking them. When I was 16 I bought my first SLR, a Pentax KX. I developed my own black and white film and made my own prints in the high school darkroom. What a great time! After a hiatus from taking photos for a number of years, I decided to get back into it and went at it full tilt! I favor making black and white photos, looking for patterns in the world, shooting wide angle, and, of course, travel photography. My most relaxing moments happen when I'm out with my camera.

Martha's Vineyard Workshop

Published October 11th, 2013

It was well organized and choreographed, and we had a blast! Did a lot of experimenting with creating a feeling of motion with longer exposures. If you have the opportunity to spend time with Alison, I can't recommend it more. You can find her at Her work is stunning, and her workshops are outstanding!
