Smart Shots Photography started out as an outlet for all my photography. When I first started out I shot anything and everything with no real clue what I was doing. I had no idea what area of photography I wanted to specialise in, or if I even wanted to specialise in anything. I was just enjoying being a photographer and learning my craft.
As time has progressed I have come to realise that I do enjoy shooting many different genres. I like shooting everything from landscapes and animals to street and abstract images. Though my real love is shooting portraiture. When I have a shoot and can create a beautiful image, there’s just nothing better. It doesn’t matter what or who the subject is, so long as the image is beautiful.
I realised that it isn’t what I shoot that makes me unique but rather how I shoot it. This revelation, to be honest, has come as a huge relief. To finally have a focus, my ‘compass point’, and to have a clear idea of where my path is going instead of just randomly producing images is quite an amazing thing to have happen.
For any photographers out there who are still looking for their focus, the only advice I can really give is to practice, practice, practice and take time to really discover what it is that you love and what you want to achieve as a photographer and, above all, stop listening to anyone else.
I am still shooting anything and everything, just from my own, unique perspective.
I can’t wait to see where this road leads me and how my photography evolves in the coming years.
