Yesterday I took part in the Toronto Photowalk organised by 500px which turned out to be a great experience. There were a number of Toronto photographers present who I had had been following for some time but never had the opportunity to meet which was an unexpected bonus. There were also a few people I was already acquainted with and quite a few people I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting before. The 500px staff were all in attendance as well; quite a nice and personable bunch who obviously have a lot of love for what they are doing. After a brief stop and Q&A session in their offices we made our way out along Yonge to Queen; over to Spadina; and North a little bit till we came to a restaurant where we stopped and rehydrated and recharged. Although not geographically long it was a good walk on a hot Saturday and quite interesting to exchange tips, tricks, and war stories with the rest of the group along the way.
It was great to get to meet the people behind the site and some of the people whose work has provided inspiration along the way and I hope that 500px will see fit to keep organising these sorts of events for their community.
