aneek, established on 28 december 1988, is a group theatre based in kolkata, india. aneek celebrated its silver jubilee last year (2013). aneek organises theatre festivals such as the international theatre festival “ganga jamuna natya utsab” which involves theatre groups from west bengal, rest of india and other countries like bangladesh, nepal, america and germany.

this series peeks into aneek’s life a bit closely and illustrates that life is still very much throbbing in kolkata theatre arena. it's an ongoing series and more photos would be added soon..

the dev deepavali ("the diwali of the gods" or "festival of lights of the gods") is the festival of kartik poornima celebrated in varanasi, uttar pradesh, india. it falls on the full moon of the hindu month of kartika (november - december) and takes place fifteen days after diwali. the steps of all the ghats on the riverfront of the ganges river, from ravidas ghat at the southern end to rajghat, are lit with more than a million earthen lamps (diyas) in honour of ganga, the ganges, and its presiding goddess. the gods are believed to descend to earth to bathe in the ganges on this day.

a joy ride back time | darjeeling-ghum

darjeeling himalayan railway (DHR) is a unesco world heritage site (declared on 1991) is a 2ft narrow gauge railway that runs between darjeeling and india's highest railway station, ghum. it was built between 1879 and 1881 and the old steam locomotives are still very popular among tourist of this hill station. we took a joy ride and the whole trip was very enjoying. sharing some photos of our ride in this photo story.

kumbh mela 2013 | allahabad

the kumbh mela, believed to be the largest religious gathering on earth is held every 12 years on the banks of the 'sangam'- the confluence of the holy rivers ganga, yamuna and the mythical saraswati. the mela alternates between nasik, allahabad, ujjain and haridwar every three years. the one celebrated at the holy sangam in allahabad is the largest and holiest of them.
