Almost 40 years ago I got my journeymans certificate as a photographer, and not one day since have I been working as such.
Since I for the first time entered a darkroom - that was my parents bedroom in 1965, where my father made his pictures on rainy sundays - I have been fascinated by the ability to create images of the world.
My first photographic idols I found in the catalogue from the exibition "Family Of Man" that was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1955. The work by the photographers from rhe Magnum Group did something to me and I'll never forget them. Cartier-Bresson is still the master of Black and White photography.
During the last couple of years my interest in that kind of photography has increased. When I first held a Leica M6 in my hand, I knew that this is the camera for me. I own a lot of cameras, digital and anlogue, but the M6 is always with me - as is the 35 mm summicron and a pocket filled with Kodak Tri-X.
Some of my pictures are here on 500px. Even more at my website www.thomassenphoto.dk
