Sunanda Chandry Koning
Sunanda Chandry Koning graduated with a BA in Fashion Designer from ArtEZ Institute for the Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands in 2010.
For her graduation project she presented a book, researching how extremities in politics and religion influence both each other and the culture of dressing - often a direct reaction to what is happening in current events.
Over the past 4 years she's gotten serious about photography. Rather than 'just design,' she loves to capture the beauty or reality of things already out there. To observe without judgment, to see things as they are - photography became my way to do just that.
Now working free lance as a designer, photographer, illustrator and make up artist on photo- and videoshoots.
Sunanda recently presented a photography art exhibition in the Nepal Art Council Gallery in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, Nepal. Organized by Chomolungma UNESCO Center (http://www.cucweb.org), the exhibition 'Hue/Saturation' was a presentation of 365 photographs taken in Nepal over the course of three years. They were unframed and pasted onto the walls in a wave-like shape, bleding from one hue into the next - showing the country's richness in culture, color, religion, habits, customs, landscapes, cityscapes, ethnicities and diversity of people and their backgrounds.
By not taking any political or moral standpoint, but rather by presenting a view of Nepal in a wave of tones, the exhibition showed (at a distance) the rainbow of beauty the country has to offer, and (close up) the details of various aspects of daily life and the everyday things we tend to overlook too easily.
