Born in Hertfordshire, Sylvia moved with her family to Reigate, Surrey when she was 10 years old. She was particularly interested in wild flowers and recalls heady summer days searching for bee orchids on the North Downs.
Married, with two children, she and her family spent nearly 13years in the Middle East, from the mid-70s to late 80s where she was fortunate enough to own and gain experience in using one of the earliest video cameras -the first portable VHS video system, introduced by JVC in 1978– large and weighing a massive 16.5lbs!
Returning to the UK in 1987 and settling in rural East Sussex, she spent the next 20 years breeding and showing dogs, during which time she developed an interest in IT and digital photography(with a compact), mainly for photographing the show dogs.
Attracted by the then new RAW format offering greater detail in digital photography, she bought her first DSLR in 2007, opening up a whole new world, with particular interest in birds, flora and fauna and occasional participation in the excitement of in-flight aircraft photography.
