Inner Range Lighthouse

HDR image of the Inner Range Lighthouse in Port Dalhousie, Canada.

There are two lighthouses in Port Dalhousie, originally built as navigational aids to direct ships into the harbour and the First, Second and Third Welland Canals. The outer range lighthouse, built circa 1879, is located at the end of the marina pier and the inner lighthouse is located further inland. The present inner range lighthouse was rebuilt circa 1898 to replace an earlier one which was destroyed by lightning. Both local landmarks were integral to the early Welland Canal System. The lights were automated in 1968, and the rear range light was deactivated in 1988.

The Inner Range Lighthouse rises to a height of 52 feet and is topped with a small lookout.
