I began this series in 2009 in Hot Springs, AR. These are the encounters and friendships I once had in this small town.
We associate portraits typically with faces. This series is simply another form, focusing on parts of us that define us in other ways, forcing us to see each other in a nontraditional intimacy. For the people that live in this particular community, they immediately recognize the individual without the need for traditional portraiture. This project has been more of a personal reflection of those I have shared knowledge, work, friendship, or long conversations with in this community. Many of these people are no longer in my life. This is a documentation of the experiences I have had with these individuals. Hot Springs, Arkansas was once a place I called home for over 18 years.
