I was born in a small Polish town near the German border in 1981. I spent most of my life in Poland in this beautiful hamlet, Barlinek. The countryside surrounding my village was a visual dream – the colourful fields of flowers in the Spring and idyllic woodlands during the winter – developed in me a passion for photography. Over the years my considerations turned to Portrait Photography. I am fascinated by the insight I can gain into a person’s being through their facial expressions and the gleam in their eyes. In 2006 I moved to the UK.

Memories from Aushwitz and Birkenau

Published April 13th, 2013

This year (2010) I decided to visit Aushwitz & Birkenau - The German Death Camps based in Poland near Krakow. I knew from the beginning that the place would be heartbreaking - but I did not expect such a big impact from the Second World War History. People were dying because of their nationality, sexuality, disability etc. No mercy for children! The visit changed my point of view on the War and human cruelty.

Chinatown in Leicester

Published October 12th, 2012

treet photography was never a strong genre of mine - maybe because I had never tried. This Saturday the weather was beautiful - nice, strong sun and nearly no wind. I took my camera and went for an evening walk. I arrived at Leicester Market - it was still busy - everyone was packing their stuff from the market.

I saw some great arches - the lights and the shadows created some really nice patterns. I was ready to take a shot, when at the last moment a Chinese Restaurant worker decided to come out for a cigarette. I thought - a perfect situation, a perfect moment.

I could not wait - I went back home and I uploaded my photo to my computer - I did the conversion in Capture One - I was really surprised with the results. Maybe Street Photography is not as bad as I thought?

Ellegance II

Christmas and New Years brake - since I hate watching day television I went through some of my portraits and decided to do some correction to my previous retouching - which were not so good. Here is a photo of Ewa Marzec - difficult image because of the low key. I wanted to bring out the whole beauty of the portrait while preserving the detail. Comment what you think about that.

Most of the retouching style were learned from a great retoucher from Germany who is providing some of the tutorials on youtube for FREE his nick name on youtube is jonaswtuts and here is one of his tutorials:

Today I have visited Ratcliffe Power Station (see the map) to test my new Lee big stopper filter. It was very windy and the wind was dispersing the fog coming from the chimneys. Here is the result.
