Travis Wicks

My name is Travis Wicks. I see myself as a Bold and Fresh Photographer for creative and energetic people in Northern Nevada. I am both excited and pleased you have found your way to my little corner of the internet.

I am a travel junkie based out of Reno, Nevada and always looking for an opportunity to get lost in some new part of the world. That said, I love where I grew up and Northern Nevada will always be a place I come home to. I have always been an artistic person, growing up in a house where coloring books where confiscated in order to foster creative expression. Some would see this as cruel and unusual, but I came to understand and appreciate why this was done.

I learned the art of photography in high school with a Silver Cannon AE-1 35mm film camera and 2 lenses ( 50mm f1.8 and an 80-200mm f4 ). My first paid wedding was shot using my cannon AE-1 and about 30 rolls of film. Because I loved this camera I switched to digital just a few years ago which might be considered pretty late in the game. Even though the endless hours in the dark room are behind me, the lessons this “antiquated” camera taught me are still present every time I press the shutter button.

Like many other artists I find myself with way to many intent. My constant thirst for knowledge has lead me down many paths in life from a Finish Carpenter to a part owner in small LA based Business. My passion has always lead me back to artistic expression. Through this interest I became a Graphic Artist. This too has moved me onto a few interesting paths including Mobile/Web Development as an independent contractor and consultant, and currently an exciting and cutting edge job in Tahoe as a Mobile Web Developer and Designer.

I’m always looking for ways to express myself and clients’ needs in bold, fresh ways. I strive to give a sense of passion and drama to my photography. Always looking for new opportunities to learn whether it be attending workshops, classes, photo walks, and even committing myself to a 365 project I called “My 365” taking one photo every day and displaying it online for everyone to critique. This has made me expand my photography and expose myself in new ways.
