Urvish Joshi is a doctor, a public health professional and a faculty at a medical college in Ahmedabad. He took up photography as an art during his undergraduate years. Span of about 9 years has seen him toying around with the film SLRs, the point & shoot digital cameras and finally the dSLRs. Professional requirement of visiting the remote areas and witnessing the life in its crudest form helped him grow as a sensitive artist capturing the essence of human life in every form.
His widely recognized work has seen many laurels which range from some internationally acclaimed organizations to some regional ones. Apart from winning contests in several prestigious salons and photo-forums across the world, his work has been featured at London, Chennai, Kolkata, Howrah, Bangalore, Palakkad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad in various shows and exhibitions. With more than 20 features in the photo-magazines like Better photography and others, his other works include two coffee books i.e. ‘Lens linguistics’ & ‘Golden city’ and published work towards development of literature to promote and canvass for the heritage city status for Ahmedabad through House of MG, Ahmedabad.
His work has been sold across the globe and along with being an official contributor for the Getty Images, he has been an honororary faculty to the Photography Course coaching in Ahmedabad and has been actively involved in several local and peripheral photo-clubs and pertinent workshops.
His art revolves around the word ‘Candid’ and prefers to shoot non-staged, undirected moments, be it street photography or the weddings! His penchant and understanding of colour palette and tones without disturbing the photo-content essentially marks his contemporary style of perceiving the moments and freezing time for the eternal delight of the viewer.
