Victor Lazaro (Director / DP / Camera Op.) Born and raised in Paris, France, Victor moved to New York City in 2010. He has studied filmmaking both in Paris, France and New York, NY. He has worked as EPK Camera Operator on The Tempest (Julie Taymor) and The Mechanic (Simon West), and as Camera Assistant on L’Emmerdeur (Francis Veber).
In France, Victor directed a music video for Kipling’s hit single “Lives & Walls,” which has been broadcasted on MTV France since Fall 2010. In the US, Victor’s short film Detour was nominated for best short film in the Cape Cod Filmmaker Takeover in March 2011. Loosely based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson, Victor's most recent artistic endeavor is a short film, New York Match Girl, which he both wrote and directed.
Victor has worked extensively with visual artists, dancers and musicians. He has created short films for and about visual artists, including LeRoy Neiman (US), Eduardo Arranz-Bravo (Spain), Eric Liot, Margot Lazar and Claude Lazar (France). He has worked on documentaries, short films and in live performances with choreographers and dancers Thierry Verger Eizra (France), Alias Hilsum (France), Helen Simoneau (US), Alissa Horowitz (US) and with organizations such as the Bates Dance Festival and Westchester Ballet Center for the Performing Arts. Victor also co-founded AVtv Creations with Alissa Horowitz, a company blending the arts of film and dance. From 2007 to 2009, Victor created and managed a website that followed the work of rock musicians. Acting as Reporter and Cameraman, Victor interviewed such bands as Marilyn Manson, In Flames and Gojira.
