If you had the chance to do something that was absolutely, without a doubt, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, wouldn't you grab it?
That's what I was faced with when I was laid off from my six-figure job in high-tech sales.
With a young son to raise, I did my best to resist the knee jerk reaction to find another 8-to-5 job.
Instead I forged ahead and pursued my life long love of photography.
In return, my hobby turned into a successful and rewarding career as a professional freelance photographer.
I have photographed amazing people, places and things. Celebrities and street people. I love photographing it all.
But the real reward along the way was that I got to experience the joy of raising my son. Years we could never get back if I had gone back to the regular grind.
I can always go back to corporate life, but I could never ever get back those days spent with my son.
Now, 15 years later, my son is all grown up and away at college, and I can say with absolutely certainty... I wouldn't change a single thing.
