Yeshen Eiler Venema
I picked up a camera age 13, inspired by my mother and the gift of a Nikon F3. Although now using digital Nikon and Canon cameras, I remain fascinated by the magic of
35mm and the traditional developing process.
My travels to Vietnam and Cambodia have provided great inspiration and experiences living in Amsterdam, Stockholm and the Bavarian Alps have fostered a love of abstract textures.
Moving to East London in 1998, I founded the collective Rawbeats and documented many parties, music events and festivals.
By following the emergent street art scene around Europe I have accumulated an extensive archive of photography covering posters, stencils, graffiti and sticker art.
After working across Europe, shooting for documentary, landscape and education commissions, I am currently settled in a cosy East London studio shared with the animator Natasha Tonkin. When not taking pictures, I writes for blogs and magazines on the subject of photography and advises small businesses on how to optimise their websites.
