Yvonne Soden

Working in an office is something that I could never picture myself do. Sitting at the same desk day after day just never really appealed to me. That’s why I laid off thinking of what I wanted to do for a couple of years. Not the smartest thing to do, you might say.

But in those years, I have lived in The Netherlands for some time, traveled the continent of Europe quite extensively. I met wonderfully interesting and lovely people, learned new things and experienced even more. Studies also featured: first a prep-course to be able to study in Holland, then it was Interactive Media for some time in Amsterdam, but after a year I had to admit that it just wasn’t for me. Later, back in South Africa I started with Language & Literature, and with lots of work and luck, I hope to be able to finish this one in a couple of years.

In this time, I was also lucky enough to meet someone to share all this with, and I married the guy too! From my husband I learnt more about photography, which I have always admired and wanted to do. I started taking pics at friends and family gatherings, on holidays and pretty much everywhere I happen to go.
I have worked with kids in those years as well, and learned so much from them! As a teenager I worked at holiday camps, in Holland I took care of 3 extremely special boys and worked in South Africa with babies for a couple of years. There is so much reward in being with kids, enriching their lives while they enrich yours. Practicing on my sisters’ kids, I started realising that combining my love of photography with my love of kids, has created a perfect opportunity for me.

Thus, close to ten years after I started putting off any career, I am now starting a photography business, focusing mainly on kids’ photography. Some company on the way will be great, so check out my contact page on where else you can follow me.
