Making of iPunch

Published April 13th, 2012

Creating the iPunch photo was a fun experience, from planning to execution. Here is how it was made

First step

I brought the model, and took a photo while he was holding the iPhone at approximately arm's length, keeping in mind to leave enough space between his face and the phone inorder to fit an arm extending from the phone's screen to his face.

Second step

Next, i took another photo of his arm while making a fist. it was important to squeeze the fist very hard and to bend the rest to a certain degree, so that the arm muscles would be more visible in the photo.

Third step

In Adobe photoshop i used masks on layers to give the effect that the punching arm is extending from the phone.

Then adding shades at the appropriate places to make the scene more realistic.

Finally, with dodge & burn technique i strengthened the highlights and shadow areas to give the image more contrast and let it pop out more while enhancing the facial expressions muscle tones.

Final step

With all of the above steps, this is the final result. Hope you enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed making it.

Cheers :)
